How do I contour my face the right way?

Contouring your face will massively depend on the shape of your face. Here are the common face shapes and the top tips for contouring each one:

Diamond

The characteristics of a diamond face shape are:

- Your chin is slightly pointed.

- Your face is longer than it is wide.

- Your hairline is narrower than your cheeks.

How do I highlight and contour this face shape?

To highlight the diamond face shape, you will want to apply a highlighter to the below areas:

-The center of your forehead, just above the center of your eyebrows.

-under the eye area, in upside triangle shapes.

-The center of your chin.

To contour the diamond face shape you will want to apply a contour product just under your cheek bones.

 

Heart

The Characteristics of a heart face shape are:

- Your chin is narrow and pointed.

- Your cheeks are wider than your hairline.

- Most heart shaped faces have a widow's peak which is a V at the front of the hairline.

How do I highlight and contour this face shape?

 To contour the heart shaped face, you will want to apply a contouring product to the below areas:

-The point of your chin

-The area below your cheekbones leading up to your ears and finishing in the middle of your cheeks

-Over the Temples and about a quarter of the way onto your forehead

To highlight the heart face shape, you would want to apply a highlighter to the below areas:

-An upside down triangle under the eye area

-The center of your forehead

-The center of your chin

 

Oblong

The characteristics of an oblong face shape are:

- The length of your face is longer than the width of your face.

- Your face does not have any specific points along your chin, jaw and hairline.

How do I highlight and contour this face shape?

To highlight the oblong face shape you will want to apply a highlighter:

- Just underneath the eyes in an upside down triangle shape.

To contour the oblong face shape you will want to apply a contour product to the below areas:

-Underneath the chin

-Along the hairline

-Below the cheekbones starting from the ears to the middle of the cheek.

 

Oval

The characteristics of an oval face shape are:

- Your face doesn't have any specific pints along your chin, jaw and hairline.

- The shape of your face is similar to an upside down egg.

- Your face is longer than the width of your face.

How do I highlight and contour this face shape?

To contour the oval face shape you will want to apply a contouring product to the below areas:

-Below your cheekbones starting from the ears to the middle of the cheek.

-The sides of your forehead.

To highlight the oval face shape, you will want to apply a highlighter to the below areas:

Rectangle

The characteristics of a rectangle face shape are:

- Your face is longer than it is wide.

- Your hairline and jawline are generally the same width.

To contour the rectangle face shape you will want to apply a contouring product to the below areas:

-Along your hairline.

-Along your jawbone.

-Below the cheekbones starting from the ears to the middle of the cheek.

-The center of your chin.

Round

The characteristics of a round face shape are:

- Your face does not have any specific pints along your chin, jaw and hairline.

- Your face is the same length and width.

To contour the round face shape you will want to apply a contouring product to the below areas:

-Over the Temples and about a quarter of the way onto the forehead.

-Below the cheekbones starting from the ears to the middle of the cheek.

-Down the sides of the face to the jaw line.

To highlight the round face shape, you will want to apply a highlighter to the below areas:

-In the center of your forehead and chin.

-An upside down triangle under the eye area

 

Square

The characteristics of a square face shape are:

- Your face is longer than it is wide.

- Your hairline and jawline are generally the same width.

How do I highlight and contour this face shape?

To contour the square face shape you will want to apply a contouring product to the below areas:

-The sides of your forehead.

-Underneath your jaw line, all the way across.

-Below your cheekbones starting from the ears to the middle of the cheek.

To highlight the square face shape, you will want to apply a highlighter to the below areas:

-The center of your forehead and chin.

-An upside down triangle under the eye area.
